" I started in 1995. Earlier I was working with glass in Delhi but nothing so fantastic. " Says Suresh.
Suresh Patro and Himmat Patel - two pillars behind the concept, at times work with 500 to 1000
variegated pieces of glass, held together with lead soldering, to add a touch of class to a plush
interior. Etchings on glass windows, doors, partitions and even ceilings add a kaleidoscopic charm to a home and
the owner has the liberty to create his own designs and patterns and the made-to-order
piece has a
stamp of individuality.
Suresh was the first to bring this art to the city-of-destiny: Visakhapatnam in 1995. Now they have
orders from the neighboring districts too. Being regular participants at the glass and ceramics exhibitions
and absorb new techniques from international markets. The duo claims that they specialise in v-grooving
and air brushing and no one in these regions, either in Hyderabad or even Calcutta, does this kind of work.
Exquisite figures of goddesses adorn some of the glass strips seen in their office.
'Lead soldering and air brushing involve precision and it is a skilled job working on the intricacies of the
pattern' says Suresh.
